Documentation on the operation and maintenance of equipment

Technical regulations and technical orders

How does a fighter jet actually work? For an aircraft to fly, it takes far more than just fuel and a pilot. It requires precise technical knowledge. This knowledge is set out in the Technical Regulations (TDV) of the Bundeswehr and the German Air Force Technical Orders (GAF TO) of Germany’s NATO partners. These manuals and operating instructions show mechanics where every bolt belongs and teach pilots which controls to operate at any given moment.

The Military History Museum holds an extensive collection of such documents. They are essential for the proper restoration of the planes and helicopters in its collection.

In individual cases, and subject to review and approval, these documents may be consulted.
