Working at the Military History Museum at Berlin-Gatow Airfield
The museum offers internships for school pupils and students.
School pupils with a keen interest in history and a very good grade in the subject can gain an insight into day-to-day museum work – from caring for objects to exhibition development. These internships do not prepare participants for a vocational training programme. Careers in the museum sector generally require a dual study programme or a university degree in a relevant subject (usually history, cultural management, museum studies or conservation).
Please send your application, including a covering letter, CV, your latest school report and proof of enrolment, to MHMGatowEingang(at)bundeswehr.org. As demand is high, we recommend applying 6–8 months in advance.
Students in the later stages of their studies (at least four semesters) in history (including teacher training), military history, museum education, museology or political science (Bachelor’s, Master’s) can experience how research and public engagement work together. Whether it is a compulsory or voluntary placement, it should ideally last no less than six weeks.
Please send your application, including a covering letter, CV, proof of enrolment and, if available, references and letters of recommendation, to MHMGatowEingang(at)bundeswehr.org. Once we have considered your application, we will ask you to complete a written assignment as part of the second stage and then invite you to an interview. Due to the processing time and limited places, please allow 6–10 months for the application process.
You can find job vacancies on the Bundeswehr’s careers portal.
